It really depends on the reasons why and also the doctor many will not even consider it until a woman is 40 but legally it is 21 in uk I think.
You can pay for it to be done private as my sister did at 25 she has never wanted children and doctor refused to refer her so she paid private she is now 45 and has always stood by her rights and never regretted it.
I was done at 29 because I had just had my third child wanted no more and my first child is severly disabled that is why they let me have it done then due to risks of having another disabled child. I had to have my husbands permission and we both had to sign the form to say "we" wanted it done!

I'm 34 and was sterilised 10 yrs ago, I'm am unsure of what age you have to be, but i do think the decision of the doctor or consultant would be down to the individuals circumstances, I had a neonatal death and had 2 babies too soon so my reasons were in black and white on my medical notes, I really didn't want anymore kids but i knew if i wasn't sterilised i might have got tempted!

UNLESS you have a health reason then doctors wont normally do it and then it can still be difficult. My mums friend has two children and shes 32 and she keeps telling the doctors she DOESNT want any more children and all she gets told is shes healthy and she MAY change her mind at a later date. She wont but the doctors wont help her!!!! Theyve told her come back when shes 40 and if she STILL doesnt want children then, then they will do it.

Think its wrong more so for someone her age and the fact that shes ALREADY got two children. I CAN see where they are coming from. All through school from when i was 11 till I was 22 I was sure i didnt want any children. I idea scared the life out of me. If i had gone to my doctor back then and they had said yes I would be gutted now. As since then (im now 28) ive changed my mind. Ive grown up and now i do want children. So i do understand the doctors side of things.

A lot of doctors won't do it on young women who haven't had any children. Not necessarily fair, since there are women who know at a young age that they don't want any.

If you've had a couple of kids and know you don't want any more, there's no real minimum. Otherwise, young women have to look pretty hard to find a doctor who will do it.

I am 16 and know for sure I don't want any kids. I like other people's kids just fine, but I know they're not for me. I even am thing about being an OBGYN/obstetrician when I grow up. But I know I never want to have my own (as in giving birth) children. I think that if you are over 21, you should be able to make your own decision about this sort of thing and if you regret it later, then it was your decision you regret.

You have to be 21 before you may have your tubes tied. I don't know if there is an age requirement for men to get a visectomy which I thick is totally wrong

When I was about 18 my mum said my bits were becoming too big for my pants, judging by my behavior, and said she was thinking of removing them and getting them dipped in gold and mounted for earrings. Does that count?

the law says you have to be 21 and your doctor can give you the consent forms to sign. i think there is a couple months waiting period after you sign them in case you change your mind before then.
