If you've blocked them in your browser but they still appear, especially if you get them when you're not on the internet, then you could have adware on your pc.
Try running Ad-Aware SE Personal, you might have to run it in Safe Mode to get it to work.
To get into Safe Mode repeatedly press the F8 key after the bios screen loads but before Windows loads. You'll know if you made it because the screen will be at 800 x 600 and your pc will be slow.

Same reason 90% of my mail is still spam, even after Yahoo filters it: there is money to be made finding hacks in email filters and web browsers. Hackers will expose any weakness and make a lot of money from corporate advertisers.

If you use YahooMail, cl the cown-arrow on the Pop-up blocker button on the Yahoo toolbar. Choose "Why am I still getting pop-ups."
