ok. i hate to compare like this, but i can't think to explain it any better. you know how there SOOO many different kinds of dog food. some are better than others? and theres certain way to pick the best? how do we know what the best formula is? right now, my son is using the parents choice GENTLE brand. same as infamil gentlease. he spits up, has gas problems, and sometimes it makes him fussy. so i find this formula works pretty well for him, not to mention its pretty cheap compared to some of the others....i've tried putting him in infamil lipil, and its not bad, but he just spits up so much. and i DO NOT over feed him. and he always gets burped. do you know why he gets like this on other brands of formula? when hes on the gentle formula, i never have any problems. like i said, im just curious to know why this happens? oh, i also use dr. brown bottles with the level one nipples. maybe hes lactose? or is there something in the formula that causes this to happen?

Trying to find the "right" formula for your baby can be very frustrating. Not only are different formulas made differently, but there are different ingredients between forms of the same formula. My dd couldn't tolerate anything but ready-to-feed Isomil Advance. Couldn't be powdered, had to be rtf. My son is now on Isomil Advance powdered and doing great.
If you found something that's working for you, stick with it. It's not good to change formulas on your kids (although I'm sure some babies tolerate it better than others).
Congrats on your little one.

Well the ones you were comparing are not the same. Enfamil Lipil is not the same as Gentlease so therefore the generic of the Gentlease (Parents Choice Gentle) is not the same as Enfamil Lipil. He is probably lactose sensitive which is why the Gentle formulas work better for him. You can continue to you the Parents Choice brand of it as they have the same ingredients. My daughter is not only allergic to milk but also soy products therefore she needs to be on Similac Alimentum which is the same as Enfamil Nutrimigen (they both are hypo-allergenic, lactose/soy free). If your son does well on the gentle formula he may just have a hard time digesting regular formula and will probably be fine later on. My daughter on the other hand is ALLERGIC and will probably be on special milk for at least several years if not permanently. My son on the other hand was perfectly fine with any formula that crossed his little lips. You are doing your son a great favor in using the Dr. Brown's bottles also...that's the only one my daughter can have. Hope this clears things up for you :)

sometimes the iron in some formulas can make a babys tummy icky. Soy formulas are usally a bit more gentle. Also if he is really gassy try some mylicon drops after his feedings. They usually take the gassies away fast! My son threw up after every bottle for his first 6 months. He had bad acid reflux and the gas made it worse. We also found that just a TINY bit of cereal helps to keep the food down with this situation. Not a ton of cereal cuz you dont want a baby with a weight problem lol. Also ask your pediatrician before trying anything or even switching formulas. Sometimes switching their food can make them sick. Not a good idea.

I gave my first son the enfamil prosobee. I thought I'd try the Similac soy formula because it was cheaper. It gave him really bad diarrhea and diaper rash. The sugars in the two formulas are different and the one in the Similac didn't agree with my son. Both of my boys couldn't tolerate the Lactose based formual. That's why I switched to soy.

Breast milk is best of course customized by every stage perfectly to meet your babys needs, but since it is probally no longer an option.
I would try a soy based formula, my boys were allergic to formula and had the same symptoms although they could handle breast milk fine.
They were switched to soy milk at a year old and could drink cow milk by the time they were 2 just fine, so it can be something he can out grow.
If price is a problem call your local WIC office and see if you qualify financially for formula.

he maybe allergic to something in the formula or like you said he may just be lactose intolerant. If your really worried about it talk to your sons doctor. There are certain formulas that are fr babies that spit up a lot and there are formulas and drops for babies with gas( Milacon and Little Tummies gas relief)

He could be lactose intolerant or something like that. I had the same problem with my oldest, what I did was find the one that he does not get an upset stomach from and stick to that one. Later when he gets a little older you can try to introduce other one gradually and his stomach will adjust to it.

i had that problem with my son!! he had a form of acid reflux that he eventually grew out of, but it was very gross at the time!! i used Similac Soy formula until he was around one then gradually switched to milk-based formula and now he drinks whole milk. double check with your doctor, but that was what happened with my son...it was nothing to be alarmed about and once you find something that works, STICK WITH IT!! switching brands all the time is difficult on little tummies. good luck!!
