I've become such a negative thinker. Everything has become sour and depressing. I do NOT want to be like this. How can I re-wire my brain and outlook? Thanks...

All you need to do is think positive. Find the best thing about yourself, and compliment yourself. Don't think of all the bad things about yourself or about your life, think of all the good things in life. If that doesn't work, you may need a therapist.

Many people who indulge in ingesting THC commonly take on cynical attitudes and behavior. If this is the case for you stay off of all mind altering substances. Clarity is best for making choices that allow you to express yourself in a more positive fashion.

If this is not the case then fake it until you make it. Whenever you catch yourself which you obviously have taking on a negative feeling, make a shift in what you are thinking. Think of things that make you happy, whatever that may be.

You cannot lose a habit. You can only replace a habit with another habit. Do something enough and it will become a habit, just like negative thinking.

3 weeks in general is how long repetitive action goes from a conscious act to an unconscious act.

Try what you want for yourself for 3 weeks and see what happens, you will be surprised.

Now go have fun and play.

It is my opinion that negative thinking is the cause of intelligent thinking patterns or the realization that many things are wrong. People choose to look at the world in a positive way and obcure their negative thoughts. That is why the mentally challenged or little children may the happiest in the right circumstance for they have not yet become skeptical.I guess live to be self pleasing and follow your own rules within boundries of good morality.

Take a step back and think...why am I thinking negative about this topic? Instead of thinking negatively, think about it differently, and not necessarily positively either. Only you can change your outlook on issues, and some issues need to be thought about negatively.

Look at people who don't have a sour and depressing outlook, and follow what they do.

One stragedy that has worked for me is just to stop thinking period. Literally turn your mind off and just wake up to the world around you. See the objects around you without thinking about them. Breathe in and out and feel the air in your lungs. If you spend so much time using your mind to figure out your mind, you will only end up in a downward spiral of negative thinking. When your mind is going nonstop, it's almost as if there is a holographic projection screen in front of your eyes that is keeping you from thinking in the present reality. It's probably best to stop thinking about how much better things are going to be in the future and how bad things were in the past. All you have is right now. And right now, turn your mind off. Let all the worry, negative thoughts, anxiety, depression and everything else stop. When all that's gone, you won't have to do all this extra work in trying to be more postive and trying to have more positive thoughts. When you turn your mind off there is a balance. Just use your mind when you need to. At work, when balancing your checkbook, when writing. The mind is very powerful and can be self destructive when it's allowed to run rampant. So shut it down, relax, breathe and just be.

Neuro Associative Conditioning. You could just start seeing the good in random things. Smile even in the worst of times- there's always something humorous or positive to take from any given situation. For example, you asked this on Y!A, right? You have hands and movable fingers, thought capacity enough to spell correctly, and you WANT to get out of this slump so you're already on the right track. There are many others that just give up and stay in bed forever. Life's not as bad once you realize how much worse it could be = Life's alright since I got this going for me.

You psyche yourself everyday. Look at yourself in the mirror and say positive things to yourself. Count your blessings and what you have starting from head to toe, tell yourself you will succeed in any endeavour you will undertake. This maybe difficult at first but keep doing it everyday, Soon it will be internalised in your system and will become your manner of thinking.

Every time you catch yourself thinking negatively, think of the opposite. Example, instead of saying "I hate myself" say "I love myself." Sometimes, the people we hang around with pull us down to negative thinking because they are that way. You will either need to pull away from them and not associate with them or ask them to try to be more positive because you are trying to be more positive.
