Like the cost of the war on 'drugs', the war on 'terrorism' can not be measured monetarily because the money value is the measure of human labour and the sacrifice of human lives. How do you put a price on that?
The cost for each is inconsequential simply because the profits from the heroin trade provide the funds to fight the war on drugs (they are 2 separate entities just so you know and not to be confused) and the war on terrorism is a smoke screen for America's Global Manifest Destiny.
I am the Fringe and the World will cease to exist long before this debt gets paid off.

Why are you asking me? Why don't you ask the one who waged it, Osama Bin Laden? But seriously, the real answer is, "None of this would have been worth a dime, until we win!" The problem with loser libs is that they are so focused on losing all the time, winning is too remote a concept to grasp.
If you sink $5000 into a slot machine, and then win $1,000,000, I would say the $995,000 profit would be worth it, wouldn't you? This is especially if you figure in the interest compounded daily for future generations.

This depends on how you define the "War on Terror".
If you include the war in Iraq, experts now predict a final pricetag of around $1 trillion if we leave soon.
Add that to about the same amount in domestic (military and homeland security) and commercial spending to increase security (and money given to foreign governments).
And finally, we have lost huge amounts of international prestige in the warin Iraq wich has an incalcuable loss in trade agreements and other less tangible sources.
It depends on where you draw the line as necissary and unnessisary.

It is priceless, between the thousands of senseless deaths and putting our under equipped military on the line to fight for, what was it again? WMD's nah, terrorism nah, oh yeah, making sure all the military contractors were given a lot of work as to maximize the stock portfolio's of wealthy NEOCONS :(

Any war is a loss for both parties: the winner as well as the loser. The loss of life on either side is irreplaceable. Unfortunately, our leaders go for it thinking it is a win-win situation.

Would it have been cheaper to have surrendered to the Terrorists?
Clinton saved bin Laden 8 times, and it cost us 3,000 lives.
It seems worth it to me to spend money to save American lives.

At last count, about the same as it would to build 100 world trade centers, with room to spare.

Yes it was. I know I enjoy life. Death by beheading is not something I relish.
