Simply put you will need a wireless router or access point (if you don't already have one) and a wireless adapter for the PC. You can get a USB adapter or an internal PCI adapter, either will work.

Just make sure that the router and the adapter use compatable wireless protocols. i.e. they both should be 802.11G (although G is backwards compatable with B). Just don't get a "G" router and an "A" card.

First, you need something to send a wireless signal. If you already have that taken care of, ignore that. If you don't you'll need a router.

Second, you'll need a wireless receiver. Most of them simply plug into your computer via USB plug, with a simple installation. I don't really know what you're trying to do, so I can't help you with fine details. If you go to a local Best Buy, Circuit City, or other such electronics store, you can go to the Networking department and get help there, as well.

Just a word of advice: it's harder than it looks.

Are you planning on getting wireless signal from the existing network with a wireless router, or you want to make your own network absolutely from scratch?
You'll need a wireless router to send a signal, you'll need a wireless card that goes into your PCMCIA slot in your laptop. Or do you have a desktop you need to connect to? then you'll need a wireless PCI card. You have to be more specific.
