I mean seriously I don't know too many Republicans who say they are progressive

I think 'as-salāmu calaykum has a good point i too would be progressive in that sense.

All the "progressive" name tag means is clever marketing. Supporting high taxes and supporting an inheritance tax is not "progressive."

"Progressive" is the word liberals are currently using to describe themselves because they feel that "Liberal" is pejorative. Some liberals and some conservatives are progressive in that they look forward and try to anticipate the effects of their decisions on the future. Some liberals and some conservatives defend the status quo to the bitter end and vote the way they do because that is the way they always have, or that is the way their parents and grandparents did.

progressive is a tern used within the ideology of liberalism. But it can apply to things outside of the liberal ideology.

For all practical purposes. I'm sure people will explain (at length) the differences, but IMHO it a distinction without a difference.

People just like to say they are, and progressive is all a matter of opinion

as a conservative, i want to progress to getting rid of all illegal immigrants
