Yahoo's interface is like Outlook. But, Gmail offers more space, and free Pop and Imap so you can download your mail to Outlook or Thunderbird or what have you.

There's another intangible - all the programs that google makes are linked. For instance, if I get an email with a date in it I can add it right into my calendar. They also have the spreadsheet and word doc program which you can collaborate instantaneously. With my wife, I'll upload a doc, email her, and from her email she can go directly to the document make edits in realtime.

I think there's a higher ceiling for gmail. But it's a matter of preference. I use a lot of their services.

All of these programs have pro's and con's. This is a matter of personal choice. I personally think Gmail's conversation feature beats up any other feature on any other mail client. Gmail is also 100% free (except ads) and you have a ton of space with a 10MB size limit on email. However, Gmail is still in Beta, which means it is not up 100% of the time.

Gmail rocks! It beats the other mail providers in features and lack of annoying advertising! As far as IM, I keep a personal AIM account. My company is probably moving to Jabber for internal IM within the next year.
