The fact that you can achieve an erection and maintain it without much interest in sex is not unusual. Prozac in particular seems to be problematic. Talk to the doctor prescribing the Prozac. Often a gradual change to another SSRI can be beneficial. I went off Prozac years ago and it took me several years to find one that worked for me and allowed some degree of normal sex. Eventually, Zoloft (which is now a generic and cheaper) worked for me. But, virtually all anti-depressant meds effect most people's sex drive. Be glad you can achieve an erection - often that's not possible with anti-depresent meds.
Interestingly, some current research suggests that the brain can eventually "wire around" some of the side effects of SSRIs, including an eventual renewal of libido. But, that is not true with all.
I hate the fact that I have to be on SSRIs, but I've learned the hard way that life without them is just plain awful. A little less libido hasn't led me to go without.

Get off it ...... you have to........you wouldn't be able to take prozac and think you can have a normal sex life. There is a chemical in prozac that counter acts with the neurons that heat up your sex drive. That chemical wont go away unless you quit taking it...... even if you quit it still takes a while to flush your system... it all depends on how long you have been taking prozac.....
Good Luck Sweety!!

That is a known side effect of Prozac and many other anti-depressants. Ask your DR for Lexapro, it is not supposed to affect your libido. Good Luck!!

Prozac has been known to not only decrease the sex drive; it does have a minimal effect on hormones as well as testosterone production in both sexes, but alas you feel generally so damn calm all the time, that food takes the place of sex; I hated it, gained almost 40 pounds, and after four months of being off of it, finally got my groove back and my shape! This is only one opinion though so..Good Luck!

Prozac and almost all other antidepressants are real penis droopers. Some people become totally disinterested or unable to get aroused. This happens to both men and women, but affects men worse because they usually cannot get an erection.

Let go of the prozac. There is this woman on the news whose husband committed suicide in front of his child because the pharmecutical company neglects to list ALL TRUE side effects for antidepressants. Get this...most medication they sell in the U.S. are rejected from other countries because of their defects! Hope that helps :(

Anti-depressants typically annihilates the libido..sorry dude. I took Zoloft for 8 months and it did the same thing. Try tapering off the Prozac if you think your ready.

Ask your doc if you could switch to wellbutrin it has less side effects. Maybe try changing when you take your dose also maybe cut down on the dose there is no real evidence that a higher dose helps anymore then a lower one. Good Luck
