I once heard that the "off pills" (the ones you take when you are on your period) are nothing but "sugar pills". Is this true? What happens if you do not take those pills?

Well, their not sugar pills they are vitamins. They are for two reasons one to make sure you are getting the vitamins you need and two so that you have a reminder of when you need to get your refills. Vitamins give you the energy that you need. Some people who take birth control can gain weight in the first six months of taking them. Vitamins can help give the energy you need so that you can keep the weight off. When you started taking birth control your doctor should have explained this to you. It isn't a danger not to take them, but if I were you I would take them any way. It keeps you on track!!!!

I don't know about all these other people who are getting vitamins in their off pills, but my pill and every other one I've come across contains:
Colorant
Milk sugar
Filler
Cellulose
Cornstarch
"Sugar pill" is a very accurate description. You can skip them with a light heart, although if you have trouble remembering pills, it's probably better not to and stay in the habit.

Actually nothing happens; they are sugar pills designed to help you remember the number of days you do not need to take the "pill", so if you decide to forgo taking these placebo type off day pills...nothing happens!!!

I never take them. They're mostly made of sugar and are there to keep you in the habit of taking the pill at the same time everyday.

My doc said they are just sugar pills, that the only reason they give them to you is to keep you in the habit of taking a pill everyday.
She told me that if I chose not to take them, that was up to me, it didn't make a difference as long as I could remember to start back up again on the right day.
And be sure to ask your doc, different types of pills are well different. I took Ortho Nova 777, but ask your doc to be sure these are only reminder pills.

i'm the very similar as you. I somewhat were off the pill when you consider that April with out luck. I somewhat have a standard cycle. it comes on the twenty seventh of each and each month, with out fail! shall we wish that's our month. i do not imagine it takes that lengthy for the pill to positioned on off, yet I somewhat have heard it may take some months so that you'll initiate to ovulate lower back and on your lining to be waiting to help a touch one.

They have no active ingredients as far as birth control goes, they are harmless, they put them in there so you stay in the habit of taking the pills every day.

it is just a sugar pill. the ones that i had (demulin) if i skiped the sugar pill i would not get a period.

the off pills are only reminder pills to help you know when to start your new pill pack
