We deceive people every day. Deception is basically lying when it come down to it. You deceive children by telling them about Santa Clause, or that there are Tooth Fairy's and Easter Bunnies. This is considered.
You go to work as one person, you put on a professional front, then when you get home you peel of you work self and change into another person.
Not everyone does this, few people can live there life deceit free.
Is it right that is up to you to decide/

No, it is not. There are ways however to allow people to draw their own conclusions, whether they are wrong, with out telling lies or deceiving. Example: A man leaves home on a walk, after walking a little way he takes a left, going a little further he takes another left. After walking more he takes another left. On his way back home he sees two men in masks. Who are these men? and what is the man doing? Now I have given all details necessary to come to the right conclusion. Nor have i lied about anything. The two men are an umpire and a catcher, and the man is playing baseball. Most likely not what you thought.

If someone request that you respond to a question in which they didn't really have the right to ask, you may tell them whatever is convenient. For instance, if someone is shopping for compliments, you may lavish them with nice words they are undeserving of because they had no right asking you for your opinion. Such questions as "Do I look too fat...skinny...ect?" can be dealt with however you feel since they are unwelcome questions.

My father has Alzheimer's. He some days believes my mother is still alive. We play along and tell him she is shopping or visiting.
A gentle lie is often better than a vicious truth.

Motivation is everything. Why you do what you do.
I try to manipulate other peoples thinking just like everyone else.
But where most people are trying to manipulate other peoples thinking to gain control over them.
I try to manipulate other peoples thinking so they can have more control over themselves!

No. Deception is the #1 tool of the devil. Anyone who believes in deception is a child of the devil.
