As far as I understand, once IE 7 is put on the critical update list, it is no longer Beta. This is the real thing. Based on what I have seen, however, you can still choose not to install. However, It will remain in the critical update list . If in the end, you do install and then decide that you do not want it, Microsoft says you can uninstall through the add/remove program list in the control panel and your browser will automatically be restored to IE 6. Here is the FAQ section from the IE7 Home page in case you have any further questions. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/support/default.mspx
By the way, I did install it and am very happy with it. No problems so far.

I didn't want to download IE-7 either, because of what I was reading about it. But I eventually did, and glad that I am using it now. It has a lot more security features, than IE-6 did, and it is really easy to use, once you get used to it. Beta means, testing, but it is not in beta anymore, it is a regular program with all the testing finished..Here is the link to download IE-7 from, good luck>>

Microsoft will not ask you to download the beta version.
They just completed the beta version so it's just IE7 now.
Windows automatic updates will ask you if you want to install it...
It's more secure than IE6 so I recommend to install it even if you don't use it.
(Beta is that the program is ready but has some bugs.)

Because it is a critical update.
However, it is not in beta form, it has been final for about 1 to 2 months now.
If you are weary of installing it, make a restore point, install it, check it out, and if need be restore back.
