We do a gift exchange, but you do not know who you are buying the gift for. I work with mostly women who are middle-aged (over 30). There are a couple of men who work here and they are middle-aged as well. There are only two people who are under 30 (1 guy, 1 girl). I have only been working for the company for 6 months, so I am still trying to get to know my co-workers. I have no idea what is an appropriate gift for a co-worker since this is my first "real" job.

I'm in the same boat as you....I work in an office & we do a dirty santa gift trade every year, I always get Crown Royal gift box with the 2 glasses & it's always under 25$ & they fight over it like cats & dogs.....the liquor store always has diffrent drink gift sets with glasses. check it out

Wine - My Husband just had his xmas party. They have a "white elephant" gift exchange, you know the kind where you can steal other peoples gifts. The bottles of wine were stolen more than anything else. These were men and women in the same age range as your co-workers.

a really good gift that does show some thought..(not a gift card) is a gift basket. you can get a premade one or build your own if you live near a cracker barrel restaurant. they can range anywhere from 15 - 50 dollars depending on what you want in them. the breakfast baskets are the most popular. i have yet to hear of someone who didn't appreciate one.
