You have adware/spyware in your system. Do not go to the link and download a good anti-spyware program. You are scanning using an AV and what you need is an anti-spyware. Here are some good ones you can download for free:
http://www.safer-networking.org/
Uber powerful tool which can search and annhilate nasties that make it onto your system. Now with an Immunize section that will help prevent future infections.
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/
Another very powerful tool which searches and kills nasties that infect your system. AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy compliment each other very well.
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html
Great prevention tool to keep nasties from installing on your system.
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareguard.html
Works as a Spyware "Shield" to protect your computer from getting malware in the first place.
https://netfiles.uiuc.edu/ehowes/www/resource.htm
puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
http://cleanup.stevengould.org/
Cleans temporary files from IE and Windows, empties the recycle bin and more. Great tool to help speed up your computer and knock out those nasties that like to reside in the temp folders.
Windows Updates - It is very important to make sure that both Internet Explorer and Windows are kept current with the latest critical security patches from Microsoft. To do this just start Internet Explorer and select Tools > Windows Update, and follow the online instructions from there.
http://toolbar.google.com/
Free google toolbar that allows you to use the powerful Google search engine from the bar, but also blocks pop up windows.
http://www.trillian.cc/ or http://www.miranda-im.com/
These are Malware free Instant Messenger programs which allow you to connect to multiple IM services in one program! (AOL, Yahoo, ICQ, IRC, MSN)

The message you are seeing is most likely a pop-up advertisement from a company trying to sell you their anti-virus and/or spyware. They did NOT actually take a look at your system at all and they do not even know if you already have a spyware or anti-virus installed.
Any site that has to use deceptive advertising by making pop-up Internet web pages is not a place I would want to deal with anyway. I would ignore them and simply close the window with the X in the top corner...DO NOT click on any other part of the web page! The spammers and underhanded people actually make clickable buttons that look like a Windows typical one but it takes you their site or installs something on your PC instead...As others suggest, it may even be better to just ALT-F4 the item.
I would suggest that you stick with the known products, such as Norton Antivirus. There is another spyware/virus scanner made by Panda Software which you can use to scan your PC - they used to offer a free inspection. You can try them instead if you are worried about virus.
There is also spyware removal and scanner tools (AdAware) you can download, and a pop-up blocker by Windows or Yahoo is available.

Is it a gray box that says "Messenger Service" at the top?
You need to go search for "disable Windows Messenger." It is not the same thing as the chat type soft ware, ie: Yahoo Messsener or AOL IM, and it is a known security risk.

you have a cookie that is causeing this problem all it wants to do is get you to buy theire anivirus software... clear out your history, cookie, and cache files... do a disk clean up put a check mark in all the boxes and click ok... the will take several minutes to do... then do a defrag to. speed up your computer
beter still go to www.mozilla.com and download firefox2 web browser, it is more secure than IE6/7 install it and set it up to delete all cookise and history, and private data

You need to activate your pop-up blocker. To do this in IE-7. click on tools, pop-up blocker, turn on pop-up blocker..If you have the yahoo toolbar, that has a very good pop-up blocker that you can activate..click on the pencil icon, click toolbar options, then put a checkmark next to Pop-up blocker, and then click ok..good luck..

That's just another pop-up like any other. Just ignore it and try to get better pop-up protection.
