The ironey of this is my employees who also recieved bonuses yesterday are asking why they only recieved $20.00 when the previous years bonus was around $100.00. I am not the one who decided on the amount. My employees are also saying that some of the other employees recieved more than them and a couple of my employees have worked here for years.should i give some of my money to make up for the bonuses they recieved or should i confront somebody????

Confront somebody.
Giving your own money away only resolves the problem for this year, not as policy.
Tell YOUR employer that their decrease in bonuses has put you in a compromising position, and you want reasons for that.
If I were in your position, I'd be pretty upset at your company's act of reverse generosity.

You should first diplomatically ask your superiors or the Human Resources/Payroll department about it to make sure they did receive the intended amounts. If the intended amounts don't make sense then try to figure out what the logic was in the bonus scheme and explain why it doesn't make sense. Be prepared to explain the results to the employees. It would be highly admirable and very professional for you to give some of your personal bonus to employees or at leats try to spnsor a better christmas party or a free lunch or somehting that is inexpensive but nice for them. Maybe let them leave a few hours early one day so they can spend more time with their families during the holidays.

A bonus is just that, a bonus. Tell them it could be nothing and they should be happy. All this discussing each others bonuses is going to get the whole concept taken away. Bunch of spoiled babies. Lots of people get zip this time of year.

I'm sorry but the bonus was mean't for you. If they are unhappy because of it maybe they should go talk to the person who hands them out and decides to give it out. but what you can do to make them happy is maybe taking them out to dinner and have a christmas party to show them that you respect all their hard work.

No. I bet the bonus is performance based. You would be rewarding non performers and minimizing your hard work.

Just be happy and donate some of it to a church, or children's hospital or some charity.
