I don't like to know what I'm getting, but I can't say that I ENJOY the wait. More like I tolerate it so I can be surprised.

As a Long-Term Single Parent, I do NOT expect Presents of any kind (just part of the position of being a Single Parent, and one with two disabled children) ...
So ... this year I became an Empty-Nesting Single Retiree ... and I am doing something to remember the one long forgotten during this season of joy -- ME! I went out and spent some of my hard-earned income on a brand new TV -- the first thing I've gotten for the Holiday season in over a quarter of a century.

Yeah, that ruins the surprise. I love waiting until Christmas. Even though its driving me nuts because mom wrapped the presents and has some of them under the tree already.

I have to say, I love my husband more than anyone in the entire world, but when it comes to shopping he is horrible at it. He doesn't even try. Every year I give him hints and lots of clues on what to get me for Christmas, and every year about a week before Christmas we go shopping. He has me to pick out whatever gift/gifts that I want. I write the check to purchase them, I bring them home, wrap them up and put them under the tree. (I do that for the sake of the children. It makes them happy to see mommy open gifts.) I tell him every year, I don't care what you get me this year I just want a surprise. But I never get it. I don't expect it this year either, I got my gifts last weekend, lol.

I enjoy the waiting. I know exactly where my husband hid my Christmas gifts, but I don't want to go snooping through them. I would rather wait and be surprised at his thoughtfulness, than already know what I'm getting.

One year I did rummage and found out everything I got. I was disappointed because there was no surprise. I never did it again. That was probably 14 years ago. I learned my lesson!

Definitely the wait! It's like the whole process is that much more of a surprise! Besides, isn't it the thought of giving that counts?!

First off, I think sglmom needs to stop whining already. Go out and get laid. It will change your attitude.
As far as the question, absolutely, wait!!!!! The anticipation was the best part when I was a kid, and still is today.
