I am 5 weeks pregnant. I use to be a night owl and sleep only 6 hours a day and still feel fine.

Now I sleep 8 hours and I am so tired! I go home and want to sleep at 7:30pm, I don't clean, play with my dog or anything!

Should I expect to feel tired like this the entire time I am pregnant? Or will I get more energy in my 2nd trimester?

you will probably get some energy back the begining of your 2nd trimester and loose it a little again toward the end of your 3rd trimester. it's common and normal and it's just your body's way of dealing with the changes that's taking place and the stress its under with a growing baby. drink lots of water through out the day and sometimes that'll help a little bit.

Everyone is different. The books say you'll get it back at the 2nd trimester.
With my son I was never tired...with my daughter I was tired until the beginning of my 3rd trimester and that only lasted a couple weeks before fatigue kicked back in. Just try to rest as much as you can, when you can.

I'm sorry to hear that you're so tired...I know how annoying it can be. I have heard that most women will start to feel better in their second trimester (4-6 months). But for me personally my 3rd trimester was the best. I was EXHAUSTED the first 6 months and then started to feel much better when month 7 came around. Good luck with your pregnancy and congratulations!

My energy came back around 14 weeks...but I still have good days and bad days. It all depends on the day for me....but it should def. get better as you move into the 2nd trimester. You have a while to go...take it easy and if you get tired...lay down. Dont feel lazy...you are pregnant!!!

I started to feel a boost in my energy around the middle of my second trimester. It seemed like all I was doing was sleeping! It will get better, though, and after the MS and being tired all the time goes away you may actually start to enjoy being pregnant. I know I did. :) HTH

Most women get their energy back by second trimester...but it will diminish again in the third...suck I know but hey...it's quite an amazing thing that us women are doing!!! We can actually GROW PEOPLE!! It takes alot out of ya, but it's totally worth it! Just make sure to listen to your body and rest when needed...besides, you need all the sleep you can get for now...it won't be long until you forget what good sleep really feels like!
Good luck and Congrats!

It may sound strange, but if you get some exercise it will help some. Don't just lay down because your tired and don't have the energy. Now, mind you, I'm not by any means saying to run a marathon!! But get out and stretch your legs a bit. Keep it up throughout your pregnancy.

You may be tired the entire time, but by keeping up with some exercise, you'll have a shorter recovery after birth.

congrats and best of luck!

only 8 hours? hehehe...my first trimester, if I wasn't at work I was napping...lol.
Everyone is different, but I didn't get my energy back until mid way through my second trimester. And now that I'm in my third I'm tired again....but not exhausted like I was before, just tired.

Your energy level should get normal in the second trimester. Some women are tired the whole time, some never get fatigue...just depends on the woman. Good luck!!

It's different for everyone, but I felt more energy at the start of my second trimester, then I was tired again during the third. Eat healthy and watch your carb intake. Too many carbs can add to the tiredness.
