Athena transformed Odysseus into a beggar so that he could infiltrate his palace to defeat the suitors. The way that they did it was very cunning. Odysseus would use his tactic of storytelling to deceive the people that he encountered. But, the first person who he revealed his identity to was his son, Telemachus. This was cunning because he knew that Telemachus could later help him. In addition, Odysseus was modest when the suitors attacked him. For example, when Melanthius attacked him, he took the lick and hid his pride.
