you should take it up. i'm sure the monetary offer is good, as those on expat terms of contract get many perks. your kid will be in safe hands in an international school in singapore or even a local school.

Singapore is a very cool place. He will probably get a great education there and living among other cultures and beliefs will be good for his development. There is lots to do there. Bird park, gardens, orchid gardens and a very cool zoo.
They are very hi-tech there also.
The City is the cleanest city I have ever seen and the temperature
is in the 70 -90 range all the time. Very tropical.

What a great adventure it will be. And now you have a very cool place where family and friends can come visit you.

Here are some great pictures I took of the zoo and gardens in Singapore:

Singapore has a very high standard of living and great education system. If you are worried about your son, buy him some travel books and plan little holidays around southeast Asia for him to look forward to. He has an opportunity to experience a lot, and he can just go back for uni in a few years if he chooses. Good luck!

Oh, do come. Singapore is a cosmopolitan city with a good mix of people from all over the world. There are international schools your son can enroll in, where he can continue to mix with predominantly European/US children instead of being plunged straight into Asian company. But it might be good for him to be exposed to different cultures at a young age.

Housing is relatively affordable, considering the currency here is weaker than the pound.

Speaking as the daughter of an Air Force Officer I can say that moving to different locations is a good learning experience. It is not always easy but there is a lot to be gained as well. Your son will not be scarred for life. It may help him in the future. Make sure you help him learn the local lauguage so he is not to isolated. And help him find friends that speak english as well.

talk to him, weight the amount of money, growth in your job with displacing your son from his friends, I can only assume you have lived in the UK all this time so he certainly has mates that he plays with regularly,,

and I dont know how Singapore people feel about UK people, that is something to investigate, I am sure they are not fond of americans,

If you have a large supportive family that needs support too don't go. If you guys are pretty much by yourselves go for it and enjoy the new opportunity. Good luck.
