Unfortunately, we live in a society where women and men are judged differently. There is still a feeling lingering from older days that a women's sexuality should remain pure, while a man should get as much experience as possible, even though the times have changed and moved beyond those cliches. People will always judges others. Thats just the way it is. You just have to know that if something is right from you, it may not be right for others. Do what you think is best, and don't let other's judgments get to you.

You know, this question comes up a lot. There is no honest answer that is attractive to a woman. To answer this question honestly requires saying things that a woman doesn't want to hear. The question itself demonstrates the disparity and the double standard, but pretends to want to know why.

Yes, there is a double standard. And yes if you believe the double standard is wrong then it is wrong for the asker and others in agreement with the asker.

There are people who believe the double standard is a function of nature and will point out animals where the male mates with as many females as possible to increase the chances of reproduction of it's genetic material. They, however, fail to point out the species where the females mate with as many males as possible for the very same reason; albeit to ensure fertilization (among other hypothetical possibilities).

Socially, among humans, in our patriarchal society, many men, and many women, believe that it's just one of the desired differences between men and women. It is perceived that a woman's sexuality is more valued than a man's sexuality. One of the social drives for this is that ultimately, many envision all women as potential mother's and purity is part of that image.

There are any number of reasons why this perception exists, but it basically comes down to it just does. Right or wrong, fair or unfair, it just does.

Personally, I think that there is a variable limit for both males and females that when crossed is too many partners and this limit in my mind has nothing to do with intellectual analysis; it's just a gut level emotionally driven value derived from cultural influences of a lifetime.

As with most inequities between men and women, part of the problem lies with women. If women made a concerted effort, together, to change our society's rules, they have the power to accomplish anything they want. Don't tolerate guys with this double standard and eventually we'll learn; most of us will learn.

It's societies way of keeping control of women. Its a narrow double standard that will be around forever. It baffles me because a man will go and have sex with that woman and think she is a **** but fails to look at what he just did. Which is the same exact thing. Had sex! It's kinda like do as I say not as I do.

Another reason I think its common knowledge that men have a very big sex drive and they "can't help it" so its OK for them to have lots of sex. Which I think is total ********.

Part of what it is, is when i guy calls a girl a hoe, he wants to "get with that", but guys are also called hoes too, not pimps, if so they call themselfs pimps. I know for fact i had a friend in high school who slept with all the girls in school, then when our senior year rolled around he was hitting on freshmen and he said hes a pimp cuz he can get any freshmen girl.. but me and my friends made fun of him cuz a) thats low, most freshmen girls have no idea what their doing b) hes just gross..
hope somehow this helps

There’s always going to be a double standard in our society. The role of women is not same as a man. However, I like to change things around. If I know man who sleeps around a lot, then I will treat him like a hoe. I choose not to give him pimp status.

No. When either one has sex with multiple people they become no better than cats and dogs who cannot keep a reign on their hormones and urges.
Neither should be revered or looked on as healthy. It is part of the reason for so many unwanted pregnacies, STD's and other issues. When you sleep with someone you sleep with every person they have ever slept with. That is a terrifiying thought.

Because it is so much easier for a girl to have sex than a guy. Think about it...if a girl is walking down the sidewalk and asks guys if they want to go back to her place, she will get a yes fairly quick. Now if a guy did that he would get slapped, kicked in the balls, or charged with sexual harrasment before he gets a yes.

This because of the fact that women gossip and they are usually the are the first to label another woman this way if she is successful/popular with the guys. Women can be pretty vindictive towards each other in this way.

Society... it's the whole alpha-male thing. You often here dad saying "he's chip off the ol' block" when his son is a ladies man. It's all male ego.

Society takes strong views on gender bias... such as why is it ok and endorsed bi our society for girls to be bisexual and they're considered sexy or beautiful, but for guys it's gross and unmanly and they get scorned.

Society is full of gender-based double standards.

Personally, I think collecting sexual 'conquests' and treating your fellow human, male or female, as simply another bedpost notch, is superficial, meaningless and shows a lack of character.

ah, the age old question. I wouldn't worry about it. sleep around if you want. It may be more about attitude and discretion for a woman to get out of being called a who*re. personally I'm not into guys who've slept around. several partners is fine (depending on age) but after a certain point, it's just gross, and you're increasing your risk for disease. thats how i see it.
