We didn't evolve. We were created, by God.The Bible will answer all of your questions. You need a good concordance to help you out, look at your local Christian bookstore. You should also get into a good "Bible preaching" church. If you're young, you need a good youth group, with a good youth pastor. You're right, to me it makes no sense that we evolved.

Humans did not evolve from monkeys at all. Rather, humans and monkeys share a common ancestor, which gave rise to different species, including modern humans and modern monkeys.
Evolution is not a linear progression from one species to another. If it were, only one species would ever be alive at any given time! Instead, evolution has given rise to a diversity of species that can be thought of as a branching tree.
On the evolutionary tree, humans and monkeys are two different twigs coming out of the same branch.
And its just a technicality, but humans evolved from APES, not MONKEYS. Apes include gorillas, chimps, bonobos, and gibbons - and are tail-less. Monkeys are different - and generally have tails.
More details can be found in the articles below.

Both human and the apes that are present today are decended from common ancestors (which are no longer living).
My belief in God does not exclude my acceptance of evolution. No one knows the methods or reasons for all that was created. Although God could have created everything in 7-24 hour periods, He did not have to. What is a day to God, who has all eternity? When the bible was inspired, would it not have been inspired in words and language that could be understood by the people at that time? What I am trying to say is, the bible can be true even if not scientifically literal.
Edit: Evolving does not mean stronger or faster necessarily. It means having an adaptive advantage that makes it more likely for the organism to thrive in its current environment and thus pass on its genes to more offspring.

Normally I ignore questions like this but you seem like you actually care to learn about it as opposed to just making a smartass comment. Evolutionary theory does not claim that humans evolved from monkeys, it says that humans and monkeys evolved from a common ancestor. Basically what that means is that an early creature evolved and as a result some of the creatures created by that evolution evolved into monkeys, and some evolved into humans. It means that humans and apes are related, not that humans came from apes. There is an overwhelming amount of evidence to support this theory and it does not make you a bad Christian to accept science.
There is no reason that evolution could not be the mechanism that your God chose to create humans.

ok this is simple
monkeys and humans came from the same ancestors. we did not come from monkeys they are just the closest relative. In evolution (which is proven) species split into different species over time . the change is based on environment and needs for that particular set of specie. Another question can be asked why is there different colors of people and people have different shapes and sizes if we were made i n god's image. Religion is not a good basis of facts it is simply a belief and nothing more. there is no logic in religion so do not try and make it logical if you want to belief than belief if not than that is fine too. there is no repercussions.

It's one of the big misconceptions that people have about human evolution.
Human don't evolve from monkeys but they and the monkeys "share the common origin". Meaning at some point in time, human and monkeys have the same ancestors but have branch a part from each other million of years ago. That's why we have monkeys and human now in separate branches.
Human is more closely related to apes than other monkeys. But still human and apes also share common origin at some point. Humans don't evolve from apes either. Does that makes sense?
note: You can learn a whole course about human evolution now because scientists such as anthropologists have so many evidence of human and our ancestors' bones.
You can google "human evolution" and learn more from it for further knowledge and investigation.

Your pitting apples and oranges in your question.
To evolve does not necessary mean that the evolved is extant and the 'evolved from' becomes extinct.
Take for example the two types of tortoises on the galapagos islands.
The one has a high arching shell above it's head, the other has a normal turtle-like shell.
The former evolved to that state by grazing on vegetation above it's head; and over time the leathery shell (the shells are soft and leathery when their young) evolved to the occasion.

Humans did not evolve from a living species of monkey. Millions of years ago there was an ancestor of both present day monkeys and humans. This species had populations that diverged (possibly through geographic isolation) and began taking advantage of different niches (ways of living). As these populations adapted to their different environments they eventually became sexually incompatible due to genetic distance. One of these new species continued diverging and eventually led to all of the species of monkeys we now have (and lots of extinct ones too). The other species continued diverging and eventually led to all of the ape species we now have, including humans, and lots of extinct species as well.
People and monkeys evolved from a common ancestor, not from a monkey.

Evolution is not one not-very-good thing evolving into something better, it is one thing changing into something else and taking advantage of a niche in the market. It's kind of like saying "if we have computers, why do we still have calculators?" computers are useful and generally more powerful, but then calculators are still perfectly good at what they do. A starfish doesn't NEED to have quantum physics and Britney Spears.
Besides, humans AREN'T descended from chimpanzees. They are our closest LIVING relative, there are lots of other species which are closer to us (like neanderthals) which are extinct. Both humans and chimpanzees evolved from a common ancestor, they became immensely strong and physically versatile, we became intelligent.
Humans probably did wipe out some of our closer relatives through competition. We might even have eaten the neanderthals to extinction.

The monkeys of today are much smarter than the vicious beasts of ten thousand years ago, who were all giant gorillas, the last of which was left on an isolated lost island and taken to New York in the dirty 30s and given the name King Kong. There's your proof, hugh jass. Hollywood never lies.

1. monkeys and apes come from a common ancestor, now extinct.
2. humans, chimps and bonobos evolved from a common ancestor, now extinct.
3. evolution doesn't work that way, if another species evolves it doesn't mean that the parent stock that it came from goes extinct. please look at this site for a full explanation.
