i went to move the stater button and when i went to start it smoke came out from behind the flywheel. now there is no spark

Put da boots to it,or shoot it,nah that other ans. (second 0ne) has it I tink.I wasnt looking close at the word coil.

First check around the wiring for a short.... then make sure the coil still works before you drop money on something that you might not need.
OH, and I just noticed this..... the coil IS NOT under the flywheel....
Now the alternator (stator) is under the flywheel..... but that just charges the battery and maybe runs some lights... doesn't give spark to run the engine.

You will want to test the armature on the engine. If the armature has gone bad this could cause your no spark condition. To test you will want to remove the ground wire from the armature then test for spark. Additional testing can be located at the link below.

New coil new sparkplug wire and plug. the coil is under the flywheel.
