Honestly it had to be one of the best card games out there, and yet i haven't heard about it for awhile. Did it die out?

Currently, it's dead and gone. But someone is still trying to breathe life back into the corpse.
There is TV show in the works (unless that deal fell through again), supposedly the game will be relaunched when the show airs. There's also supposed to be an MMO game coming, but it looks like not much has been happening there.

It wasn't a bad game, they made a nice attempt at blending the better aspects of Magic and Pokemon with a few twists of their own, it died mostly because of three major factors One, Magic did not loose as many players as it seemed it would at the time. Two, Yu-Gi-Oh gobbled up most of the Pokemon players looking for a new game, Three, the market for new games has turned almost entirely to licensed and multiple media products, they took too much time to realize that and did not have other media ready to go in time.

With a lot of luck, the relaunch might be successful, but I'm not going to hold my breath. There are quite literally warehouses full of defunct CCG's, some of which did truly stink, but a fair number of which were as good or better than anything on the market. It's a tough, highly competitive field and their track record is not encouraging.

Yes, it was probably supplanted by Yu-Gi-Oh
