What's it like to WORK in an adult bookstore?

Yes, I've been in a few adult bookstores, toyshops, video peep joints and often wonder: What it's like for the guy or gal who works behind the counter? Do you see naughty things going on between the patrons? Do you get propositioned a hundred times a day? Do you get grossed out by the customers? Can you tell which ones are embarrassed first-timers? How do people act when they bring a big rubber dong-o or an electric anal probe to the counter? Do people hang around all day looking for a hookup? Do customers proposition each other? Any funny or embarrassing stories? Ever have to call the cops on someone? Feel free to email me directly if you want to or just post yr stories right here.

My girlfriend worked in an adult store that had books, dvd rental, toys/novalties and an arcade when we met (it's not where I met her). She liked her job for the most part. She cashiered, cleaned the store (including the restrooms and arcade boothes which was pretty gross sometimes), had to preview movies to make sure they worked, been propositioned, threatened to call the cops on guys for cruising (because they wouldn't leave after being told to a dozen times). Occasionally, people would even call the store and actually ask for beastiality movies (gross, huh?), and some people would try to bring their kids in the store and get mad when they couldn't. I'd bring her lunch, and for the most part, I noticed most (normal) people just get what they need, or browse and get out, and are pretty matter-of-factly about what they're buying.

That's an interesting question. I do know a guy who owns several of these stores...he has some great stories.

I'm looking forward to see if anyone can tell a story here without getting violated.

It is some time hard but it is rely fun because you get to read all the books
