It depends on the marriage. I was married for 11 years the first time & 9 the second time. The first one (the father of my child) was a good guy, until he got on drugs. He later became a born-again Christian which was the other extreme. The second one, I thought I could help. Advice for those who also think this.....you can't. I was relieved both times. I lost everything both times, because I was the bread-winner, but getting divorced was still a relief. I have been living with a wonderful man for over 3 years now. We like things the way they are.

no matter what people say about divorce being great, it is very hard. I chose to divorce after 13yrs and even though it was the right thing for me to do, it was still very emotionally stressful. Life prior to divorce was miserable, divorcing was stressful, life now, is wonderful

In my opinion it depends on who has chosen the divorce. For the person who's made the choice, it's usually worse before, better after. For one who didnt see it coming, did not choose, unable to accept, it would be the direct opposite.

I thought I was happy before the split, so that whole process was miserable (to say the least).
Since then, though ... Bliss. Truly. I am happier and healthier than I've ever been. And having a lot more fun.
