Essay topics that could possibly used to your benefit are:
1) Should teenagers have the right to emancipate themselves from their parents?
2) Is it fair that an 18 year old can fight in a war, but cannot drink alcohol because they are not of age?
3) Are the parents role lessening in today's age because of teens' rebelliousness?
4) Why are women not looked down upon on having children out of wedlock as opposed to 50 years ago?
5) Is the price of living too high for the new millennium's generation?

These are some topics for you, I hope they can give you some ideas. Good luck.

Think about the things you hate. Those make the best argumentative essays. You can argue FOR the things you hate - you'd end up writing better that way. I did that for my speech comm class in college and breezed with an A. :)

Hmm try things like animations you dislike because they're too graphic or sexually explicit (ie. The Family Guy), or TV shows that are just lame and why you hate them, or why girls are trying to grow up too fast these days, why Britney Spears sucks, why celebrities make a ton of money by doing nothing at all while you're stuck in school trying to graduate just to make 30,40K a year, etc etc. You know, "light" stuff like that. :)

Can it be about economic policy and reform?
Here are some ideas about improving economic conditions through private programs instead of relying on government:

* The founder of the Grameen Bank just won a Nobel Prize for 30 years of work in microcredit financing to reduce poverty by investing small loans in locally-owned businesses. Grameen Bank has a location in Dallas, Texas, that has partnered with the Federal Reserve on outreach programs. You could argue that a similar system of microcredit and financial education could effectively replace welfare handouts, which merely rewards dependence on government, by offering alternatives that have been proven successful in helping the poor to become financially independent.

* Ithaca Hours is a system of community barter based on printing local money coupons. Ithaca NY has also converted all its animal shelters to "no-kill." So this could show a correlation between "cooperative economics" and more environmentally-friendly community development.

* Fair Trade (http://www.transfair.org or http://www.transfairusa.org)
Fair Trade organizations monitor companies based on labor practices, whether they use slave labor or pay fair wages and let foreign farm workers retain more ownership and profits through farming cooperatives. This information is published online and used to determine which companies can carry a "Fair Trade" label.

You could argue that instead of government regulation, if more consumers are made aware of and support ethical companies, while boycotting those in violation of fair labor standards, the free market forces can influence companies to follow better employment and trade practices.

There are a few topics that will be great for an essay like: divorce, celebrity influence if it's good or bad, school security, failure to succeed in ambitions, computer games(what xbox and ps3 can teach kids), importance of holiday celebratins (like xmas-why it is good to celebrate it), beauty products(why women indulge on it), and definition of Success. those are some topics you can use for the essay you need that's been going on around.

How about, Men, however they like to think they are into equality and have equal partnerships with their women, will never willingly do their share of the chores, or if they do, will not do them properly.

Tipping should be banned. It just encourages employers to pay shite wages. (v controversial though if you are in the US, as I know it's widespread there)
