Differences
*Active transport requires energy, passive transport does not
*Passive transport only occurs down the concentration gradient, where as active transport can go in either direction.
*Passive transport is dependant on the permeability of the membrane, while active transport is not.

Similaraties
*They both can involve transmembrane transport proteins, including membrane receptors.
*Both help move lipid insoluble molecules across the membrane.

Differences:

Passive Transport:
1. No ATP require
2. Materials move in and out of the cell from higher concentration to lower concentration (move down their concentration gradient).

Active Transport:
1. Require Energy such as ATP
2. Materials move in and out of the cell from lower concentration to higher concentration (against their concentration gradient).

Similarities:

1. Both Passive and Active transport are ways which transport or regulate materials in and out of the cells.

2. Both passive and active tranports have different ways to transport materials in and out of the cells. For examples, Passive transport includes simple diffusion, facilitated transport. Active transport includes sodium-potassium pump, proton pump.

well active as the name implies that the cell requires energy for the uptake of the subtance example magnesium in a root hair cell.its the movement of net particles from regions of low concentration to a high concentration against the concentration gradient hence the need for energy. meanwhile passive transport like diffusion does not require energy its the net movement of particles from regions of high concentration to a low concentration.

energetic delivery demands ability use by employing the cellular, passive delivery would not (it somewhat is the end results of molecular circulate by employing kinetic ability). energetic delivery can flow a substance from a close-by of low concentration to a close-by of severe concentration (up a gradient), mutually as in passive delivery, molecules can merely flow from a close-by of severe concentration to a close-by of low concentration (down the gradient).
