Is it law for teachers to give us homework? Do we have to do it? Does anybody know if it's the law in Britain for us to do homework or is it up to us? That is my homework how stupid

It is not a law, but most schools have it as part of their policy, which means that the teachers have to set it.
It also has a lot of benefits, such as giving pupils the opportunity to practise and develop their skills at home.

Probably it would be called a policy rather than a "law." However, with the information explosion that has occurred since 1900, there is far too much to cover in class. Therefore, homework is justifiable. As an English teacher, I required my students to read a novel completely BEFORE class discussion. I usually gave them three weeks. That was necessary because obviously, we could not read it in class. There simply was no time to do so.

Having said that, however, I believe homework should be productive and NEVER just busy work like endless worksheets.

Chow!!

Have you noticed that when we are interested in something, we spend a lot more time doing it or learning about it?
Well, what you do when you are at school should be interesting. You should spend as much time as you can, learning. Then you will get a better job, have more money, be able to have all the things you want (like computers and everything). Don't bother when at school and get a job stacking shelves for ever, for £5 an hour.

Such a rule for teachers doesn't exist.
Yes, if your teacher wants it.
Such a "law" doesn't exist neither in Britain.
If the teachers pratice active teaching, that means where all the pupils permanently participate, then homemwork can be strongly reduced and is often not necessary.

I am a student myself and I think homework is very beneficial. Just maybe not excessive amounts like my school gives us, but I tactually think it helps us learn better and helps to get the info into our heads better!

It should definately NOT be necessary. SCHOOL itself. as a prsion-like institution is NOT NECESSARY. In a properly FREE society it is easy to construct alternatives. (Confound your teachers by finding, and reading IVAN ILLICH; " Deschooling Society" - and you'll know what I mean !!!)
