When I had Sprint, I never had a problem, my phone bill was always the same, the deposit was much lower than everywhere else, I never had a problem.

Now I have qwest and I have the same kind of service but they're a little cheaper and they also break the deposits down into payments and also break the costs of the phone into payments (if you upgrade, they give you a free phone but it is really basic)

I am soooooo glad you asked. I have had celluar service with 20 or so providers for the last 20 years. I hate Nextel. I am so tired of dealing with that company. I also have Verizon. Verizon is a good company. I had insurance with my Nextel phone. I paid about 5 bucks a month for the insurance. The phone was stolen and I paid a 50 dollar deductable. They mailed me a USED phone with a USED battery that only lasted for about 6 minutes. This company is impossible to deal with. Run run run away from Sprint Nextel and do not look back.

i believe so. they are updating their towers everywhere. nextel twrs didn't have the best reception and needed to update their technology. that is why sprint bought or meged w/ nextel, so they can help update the technology. sprint side (cdma) will be used for mainly personal and small business whereas nextel (gsm) will be more geared to big business.

sprint also has the best internet technology. they currently have evdo which is dsl type internet access and in some areas will be introducing rev-a which is even faster. in the long run sprint will have better svc once the merger has been finalized. there are still some glitches that have to be worked out.

but it is all a matter of opinion and no one can make that decision for you.

Since they were taken over by new management, they've gotten a hell of a lot better with new towers and phones in the works for 2007.

All cell phone companies are evil, you just have to find the lesser one.

I have sprint currently, had verizon & cingular. I prefer sprint much more than them. I currently have a sanyo 8400 (awesome phone) and had a samsung A900 (again, good quality just bad battery). I haven't lost service anywhere i've taken it (live in mid-west PA, travel to Jersey & New York). Nights at 7 and free calls to sprint and nextel customers. Works for me!

I've had Sprint for 8 years, but where I live now it doesn't have good reception in my neighborhood. We have to go outside or go to the second story to get 2 bars on our phones. I have also noticed their customer service now is not what it used to be. They gave my wife a used phone (when I added her) we were told it was new. Also it had been submerged in water. They are trying to make us buy another phone when this one has never worked right for two years. Get your friends who have different carriers to make calls from where you live then you will know which one has the best reception.

Consumer Reports says Verizon.

Heck NO!!! They are one of the worst. The best is Verizon, followed closely by Cingular. They really are the two best, because they had the most capital from their parent companies to build HUGE networks.

Nextel is pretty bad in NC. Alltell's probably the best coverage here.

Nope. I have them and when my contract is over with I am switching to Cingular or T-mobile.

Verizon and Sprint are CDMA

Cingular and T-Mobile are - GSM

Meaning if you go out overseas you won't be able to use your CDMA phone but with the GSM you can.
