I doubt it. IVF is stressful in itself. Ask any couple (especially the woman) who has done the treatment and they will tell you that they were stressed.

Remember that when you become pregnant by IVF you find out much sooner than regular pregnancies. So the risk of miscarriage is higher because of that. One in seven women will miscarry as a result of IVF.

Look on the bright side. At least you know that she can get pregnant. Go to your follow-up appointment with the fertility specialist. He/She will be able to help you determine the reasons behind your miscarriage and if it would be beneficial to attempt the treatment again.

Good Luck!!!

All of the hormone therapy necessary for IVF would make anybody stress. I don't think that's what caused it. Sometimes IVF takes a couple of tries before it works. I know it's difficult for both of you right now, but be patient and give each other all of the support and love you can muster. The reward will be so worth it!

Good luck--

Just because you conceived through IVF doesn't mean that you will carry the baby to term. In fact, IVF patients have a higher risk of miscarriage...whether its due to whatever is causing the infertility in the first place or just the procedure itself. And I'm quite shocked that you guys don't already know this, through research before trying the procedure. This is why I chose to postpone the procedure when I was married, simply because the low rate of success compared to the cost of the procedure. I felt as though I really needed to build myself up for the likelihood of failure, prior to proceeding.

Sometimes ivf takes many times before you actually carry a baby to term. Don't lose hope.

No, I don't think so. I think she lost the baby for the same reason she had to have IVF in the first place -- she has fertility problems, and possibly, so do you.
