Thank you to all who answered to my question, this is my first time using & I don't know how to respond?

Anyway, just a few more questions: Based on the answers, sounds like Kent & surrounding areas are not such a good idea. Will living in Bellvue & traveling s to Kent be really bad traffic? Are there ANY good traffic rountes to Kent?

Do the days show ANY peep of sun or is it sold gloom/rain & on the days when the sun does comes out does it stay?

What is the fashion trend like out there...only rain jackets & unbrellas?

I am looking for a late 30's early 40's couples, social neighborhood ie..ladies night out, non-working women, day shopping & coffee. Do both husband & wife usually work? Are there any stayhome moms?

Oh, & when it snow's, how much & does it stay long?

Any other comments welcome!! Thanks you in advance for your answers.

I'll address what questions I can; I live in Issaquah, Washington, very close to Bellevue. To my mind, the trip from Bellevue to Kent is not a big deal; but then, I lived in Dallas for a long time, and to me, the traffic around here is not bad at all - it actually MOVES.

There are lots of days with "sun breaks" -sort of the opposite of a "scattered shower" in most other parts of the country. There's less sun in the winter simply because it's cold and the clouds can hang around more easily; once spring rolls around, it's gorgeous outside, and incredibly green. In the summer, there are a couple of months with fairly warm weather, but very few really HOT days. Likewise, in winter, we seldom drop below freezing.

Most people here don't carry umbrellas unless it's REALLY pouring, which is fairly rare. Rain jackets are the norm, because they have some insulation to keep you warm as well as dry.

I'm sure there are any number of organizations of women who don't work, although I'd say a fairly high percentage of women in that age range do work (I'm a bit older). I would imagine you could get in touch with a church, synagogue, or organization in which you have an interest in order to find women who share your interests.

When it snows, which is VERY rare (I've been here a year and a half, and it's only really snowed once, other than a light dusting last year one morning), it's not a lot - maybe two or three inches - more as you go north, or go east toward the Cascades. I have lived in Colorado, and have to say that our snow last week wasn't handled well by comparison, but it's not something that happens very often at all. The snow was gone in 48 hours.

I like it here very well, and I never thought I'd like any place as well as Colorado!

On the commute from Bellevue to Kent--- I commuted from bellevue to Auburn for a year. You definitely want to be going south on 405 and 167 in the mornings. Traffic is the worst moving towards Seattle/Bellevue in the mornings and away from those areas in the evening. Auburn is just south of Kent and it would take me 30-45 minutes from Bellevue in the mornings and 45 - 60 minutes in the afternoon/evenings typically. That was with taking 405 south and then 167. There may be better routes. Of course, that's leaving at 6:30 am at the latest and coming back north around 4-5 in the evenings. However, if you could carpool with someone and use the express lane then it would be a bit faster. Also, I lived close to 405, so it helped to start out close to the interstate to avoid in town traffic.

Well i'll preface this by saying i'm only 24 but i'll try to answer what i can.

Bellevue is okay for an upperclass suburb with easy access to seattle(usually) but your trip down the 405 or 167 will be about 45 min each way at least, traffic is really bottlenecked here.

I haven't seen the sun for a few days and many, many days in winter will be overcast and drizzly with no sun. Sometimes it gets cold and sunny with no rain and it's wonderful but we are having an awful winter this year with flooding, snow and gail force winds. when it snows it usually stays for 2/3 days at the most but it cripples the whole region and many people can't make it into work.

people in seattle/Bellevue are generally pretty fashion foward and wouldn't look out of place anywhere else on the west coast (think bay area).

You may want to try living in Auburn or Renton (in the hills renton not downtown) No matter where you go traffic is going to be bad on 167. Southbound is a little easier in the day time, but once you have lived here a while you may find atl route that exclude the main highway. Auburn is south of Kent. Very nice place. There are some social places and the Supermall is there. LOTS of Shopping.
