I'm a communications major and I want to be a broadcast journalist but I need to know that it's a good job. I also have a caribbean accent, will that affect my career? And it would help if you know of any other jobs in TV production that makes a lot of money. Plz help me.

At the entry level, (local station) broadcast journalism doesn't pay especially well. (This is true for many fields where it looks like fun -- lots of people want to do it, so the supply/demand situation keeps pay down -- but only at the entry level.

If you're really good, you move up to larger markets, where excellence is rewarded.

Your Caribbean accent shouldn't hinder your career, but that depends on your geographic area. Be aware that you can work on losing that accent -- but only if you think it's a career killer.

Other TV jobs have the same situation as broadcast journalist: you start low, because everyone wants to to it. But if you are really good, you move up the pay scale.

At the network level, or even in a major city, pay for these areas is excellent.

Some of the jobs that do pay well (at high levels) producer, film editor, director, etc.

Newspapers consider reporters a necessary evil and the actual news to be fillers around the ads so they pay lousy.
