Is CSI on a midseason break? If so, does annyone have the faintest idea of when it's coming back?

January 2007. A lot of shows are on break for the holiday season.

Most shows hit a slump in the middle of the season (around December) and show a few reruns. It is normal, and should be back soon.

Almost all shows go off for the holidays. it will probably be back in januarry 2007.
