Religion is dangerous, please say if you don’t agree coz this is only what I think, but if people are blowing themselves and people who are loved up because of what they believe then I very much hope so, I hate smoking for good reasons, and I’ve seen the worst that can happen, and that result may not be as horrific as what some religions influence, but it is just as bad.
Also to the girl who likes cats. I believe in higher being I believe that were all hear for whatever reason I believe that life goes on and I also believe that so many Christians, and religious historians, have stood up for freedom of every kind that I would honestly be ashamed to say that having feeling for someone should be banned.. It sounds like u think you’re the majority I beg to differ!

You cannot hope to get proper answers when the question itself is wrong.
Smoking is banned in many public areas in most developed countries, but NOT because people are "offended" by it, but because it was proven to be HARMFUL to the smoker and people around them. It causes emphysema, chronic bronchitis, lung cancer, ischaemic heart disease etc.
So, is religion harmful? Yes and no. The obvious harms of religion are the religious wars, division of people etc.
But have you considered the benefits of religion? If everyone on earth suddenly stopped believing that there is a God and that they are responsible for their own actions, what would happen?
Whether you like it or not, it is the subconscious fear of an almighty figure (or God) that stops a lot of people from doing bad things. If we humans are no different from animals, then (for example) rape could be justified by saying that it is only natural and is good for gene pool.
I know why people hate religion - many people see them as pests. But we don't know in what ways we depend on them. Maybe if all pests died out suddenly, it could destory the ecosystem and we could be doomed.
My point is, we don't know how our society and way of life are dependent on religion. It may just be the glue that holds us together - it might not be, but we don't know that.
I know this isn't the answer you wanted, but as I said, you asked the wrong question.

Most people have been conditioned and brainwashed from birth as I am sure you realize.
It unfortunately is taking too long for most to realize the depth of damage caused by conflicting religion, self-benefiting patriotism, ethnic, dogmatic and cultural bickering as well as the inequities most help to sustain.
Mutually beneficial consideration seems the only thing banned.

In the first place, smoking isn't totally banned. Neither will religion. Millions have died due to different thinkings about religions, different religious beliefs. The numbers, unfortunately, is still increasing in today's modern society. Will it be worth to have millions more killed due to banning religion? Unless EVERYONE in this world agrees that religion is hazardous or meaningless in life, it will never be banned.

I don't have a problem with religion. My problem comes when people use that as an excuse to back up bigotry. Don't like gay marriage, don't marry one, don't like abortion, don't have one. When they use their religion to attempt to force others who don't believe as they do to live by their standards it becomes wrong and every bit as oppressive as any dictator.

"Religion is the opiate of the masses."
It has been said many times in many ways but never seems to have much effect. But then, that's exactly what a habituating drug does to one.

Excuse me, but you seem to think that you are a majority. ibeg to differ. %80 of people in Americe claim to believe in a higher power, like a god. %65 associate themselves with a religion, and at least %18 attend a meeting of their religion at least once a month.
I note you place this in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered section. I personally believe that that is closer to being banned than religion. I do not, however, believe it will be because of the corruption in this society.
