Smarter? Certainly that helps.
Something like 85% of rich people don't start out rich. They come from poor or middle class homes, and usually become rich by getting an advanced education or starting their own businesses. Either way, it involves plenty of work and smart choices.
They also make tend to be more thrifty than most, and save their money by not always keeping up with the Jones's even though they could afford too. They save that money or invest it in their businesses or wise investments, and become rich.
Read the Millionaire Next Door to understand it better. Also read Automatic Millionaire by David Bach to learn how to save and manage your money to become rich over the long haul. Both should be at the library.
Don't just be one of those people who grouse and say you have to be rich to get rich. Everyone here can make it happen for themselves if they do the work and make the right choices!

Just because one is rich does not make them smart. I have a friend who never got past the 8th grade and is a millionaire!! She has a 4.2million dollar home on the beach and is living large. She just found a good thing and ran with it. She will be 50 next year and will tell anyone that just because a person is rich doesn't mean they're a Genius. She just got her GED about a year ago, after trying several times, because she wanted to prove she could do it. I how ever graduated with honors did the college thing and don't think I'll ever have as much money or wealth as she, but more power to her. So to answer your question, no rich people are not smarter than us. Maybe some are more determined, but that's about it.

No. Wealth isn't correlated with IQ - which is kind of counter intuitive when you think about it. Much wealth is inherited and much is earned, but some of the smartest people on the planet are doing scientific or medical research for relatively modest compensation because they're fascinated by the subjects they're researching or they just want to help advance knowledge.
Not everyone values money above all else. The vast majority of people are reasonably happy as long as they have enough money to support their basic needs and a few luxuries. Few people are willing to do what it takes to become rich because at a certain level, most people realize that money won't buy happiness.

Surely not! Some rich people who are rich by birthright are thick as the proverbial brick! Posh schooling can't change that, but they are rich enough for that not to be a problem. They have an advantage over us because they can buy their way into private eduaction and can then get into good universities, simply because of the 'established schools' they went to.
Rich people don't need to work hard academically anyway, it's not like they need to get a decent job like the rest of us.

Money can't teach you common sense. Rich people have money to send their children to private schools so they'll have a better standard of education. They may do better academically but that's not to say they're smarter than Joe Bloggs. To me, I think someone who can build a house is smart. I'd rather be stranded on a desert island with a builder or a chef than a lawyer or an accountant!

they are not smarter, many poor people are smarter then the rich. the rich have more choices, they can pay for any school they want, we have to apply for scholarships and get financial aid. i don't really think that it really matters what school you went to, just that you passed and are smart, can do your work. and if your a workaholic than you'll be like the upper middle class, not the poor class.

It depends on what you consider rich. Some people are rich terms of money. Some are rich in knowledge. Some are rich with good health.

They have more opportunities cause they have money. I'm glad I'm not rich and that I wasn't born rich cause the way my mother is I don't think she would've taught me humilty. But I taught myself and I'm wiser. Some rich have these qualities too. But anyway if you want to go a rich college you do have to work your *** off if you're broke. But I think you'll be more driven and successful.

Your Honor I would like to submit in to evidence one Ms Brittany Spears-Federline. This exhibit will clearly show that rich people are not smarter than poor people.
Thank you I rest my case.
