The doctor usually does blood work later on to make sure gestational diabetes hasnt set in. You actually had the down syndrome test done? Are you aware its not 100% accurate, and what are you going to do if they say your child has it? Are you going to abort? What if your child would have turned out perfect? or vice versa? Personally that test should not exist. but yes there will probably be another round of tests but for your health.

They send you for an amnio afterwards (if the results are poisitve) to be sure. The bloodwork results are often wrong. I dont get the bloodwork done because I would never have an amnio because of the risk of miscarriage. The sonogram can tell you if there is anything medically wrong with your child, like spinabifida, and the heart defect that usually accompanies Downs syndrome.

Yes. At around 28 weeks you will have to do more. It will be to see if you have gestational diabetes. Then when you go into the hospital to have the baby they will do even more. I think when you are pregnant you become a blood donor. Good luck

i hear the glucose test is now done with blood draw instead of a finger prick, but that's my place. Ask your nurse. They'll tell you exactly how many more shots you'll be getting. Dont forget the epidural during labor that counts as one if you plan on getting it....I hate shots, but that's one I had to get.

Yes, in addition to Down's Syndrome, they check for Spina Bifida. Best of luck to you in the rest of your pregnancy.
