Ok I have been trying to find out what the best pet is for me here is a list of details, I would appreciate your help and answer.

I'm 14, live in a semi-detached house, with front and back garden but it's not very safe and secure/

My dad refuses to get a dog, I have two birds a budgie and a cockatiel who are both downstairs in seperate cages. I had a cat but for some reason it went nextdoor as she has a house extension with a window open it used to climb. I also have a hamster who is lovely and quiet upstairs.

I would like to have a pet that doesn't make too much mess in the house, preferably likes to be cuddled and loved and play. I don't mind taking it out, feeding it or paying for any costs.

So what is the best pet for me?

The thing about the cat is that I have birds! I don't think they would get a long, I would look into getting a kitten I suppose. I do want a dog but my parents won't let me have one. It is a serious question and does mean a lot so good answers will recieve good votes.

You already have 4 pets by your count and pet ownership is about responsibility for the care of something else that is dependent on you for it's well-being. Sometimes it's not about what you want but what you can handle and what is right for the animal. You are 14 years old... another 4 years you are off to college. Who is going to take care of your pet then????? Perhaps it might just have to wait a few years when you are providing your own home environment and your options are more plentiful.

In place of owning another pet when it sounds like the home environment is not secure for keeping animals, how about volunteering for the humane society or animal shelter or vet's office and give your love to pets in need.

I would have said a cat but with the birds and hamster its not a good idea. I have had a lot of different pets over the years and have found that rabbits are very similar to cats in their nature, they like to be cuddled, love attention, can learn tricks and you can even buy rabbit harnesses so you could walk it in your garden.
The only thing about them is that its better to keep them in a pair (2 females unless you want breeding or fighting) and that they take a lot of work keeping their hutch clean as they produce a lot of poop.
Other than that they make great pets.

I am at a loss. You said your cat went next door? Is there no way of getting it back? I can think of no other cuddly pet that would be right for you. Rabbits are good to a point, then become teenagers and scare most off. Then there are ferrets, but the smell is more then most can take too. If you can not get your cat back maybe get another cat. Try to find a older house cat that does not seem to be a wanderer at your local human society or animal shelter. You can get to hold them there and see if it is right for you.

You kinda already have all the pets in the world... something that won't make a mess..... loves to be cuddled... I can only think of a dog and cat but you can't get a dog and you already have a cat....
dude a dog it what's left.... or you could get a rabbit. another cat.... but just go to the pound near you and look at dogs.... you will find one you and your dad like.. make sure it is already potty trained and when it is out side just put it on a teather that's what we do with out dog and he is fine with it... also if you have a beach or something like that near you look for stray dogs who need a home there.. i always find lot's of stray dogs at the beach

What about a vietnamese pot bellied pig ?.
They're clean and won't mess up the house as long as they've got a set toilet area. They're intelligent animals and can be quite loving. They'll happily sit about and watch TV with you and stuff.
You could always try a house rabbit, but the trouble with those is that they can chew power cables and carpets, as well as furniture. They also poo everywhere and you'll end up seeing little pellets all over the place, so they're messy.
You could try another cat, but this time make sure it doesn't escape !!.

well i think either a small dog or s kitten is good 4 u. well it would b good 2 no why u cant get a dog if it is because of size/matnience then tell them about the chihuahuah it is a small low matnience dog that is very cuddly and loves 2 play, also u might concider getting a kitten cuz they are also cuddly n stuff but u would have 2 watch out 4 ur birds.

You could get a chinchilla. They're very cuddly and are naturally docile, so they can be played with without them getting angry and biting.
How about a couple of unusual pets - a tarantula or a gecko. Both are very easy to look after, and are much more interesting than a cat or a dog (although neither are particularly cuddly).

if you really want a dog that doesn't make a mess you should get a dog that stays small like chihuahuas or somthing. I don't know how to spell the kinds so all i can tell you is go to a pet shop and ask for what you want or go to a dog pound.

A dog seems like the answer to me. A cat would be good if you could keep it inside the house.

some kind of small rodent or a bunny. bunnies are great pets, and they dont make much noise. the only thing you might not want is they can make a mess... rodents are also good. guinea pig? or maybe a rat/mouse. go to a pet store and see which one you like.
