This is for a science experiment i'm doing. I'm more concerned about the "why" instead of the "how". There was unlimited white frosting.

Pretty much the same way that color prints are made on your computer using only 3 color ink cartridges. All visible colors of the spectrum are made from the three basic colors (in fact, in the list you provided, you do not need green as it is also a mixture . Nor do you need white which is defined as the absence of ANY color.

You mix the right proportions and presto.... you get the color you want.

1 part Black and 1 part Blue
