Are they into the internet themselves? The best way is to get them hooked. Once they are, they will become frustrated with the slow connection, then you can start plugging your faster connection ads to them. My dad was computer illiterate, then we got him a little laptop. Now he's on there all the time sending me annoying joke emails all the time. But as long as it doesn't affect them directly they won't care.
You can also try telling them that you need it for school and now a days most sites including research sites require a faster connection. Good luck

HAHAHA!!! tell them you are a hard core gamer and you HAVE to have cable internet, otherwise you will DIE, horrible painful death of a terrorist from CS-Source. oh my ... great question.
Try the school excuse ... or that you talk to some of your foreign friends overseas...

how about - get a job and buy your own internet... and if you are not old enough - then you shouldn't need anything more than dialup anyways ;)

Get an after-school or week-end job, for a couple of hours a day. Your can pay for the high-speed yourself, plus have a few bucks in your pocket, to spend as you like ....

Ask them to help you with internet homework research or get them into something they are interested in online. Once they see how horribly slow it is and how inconvenient it is for you and them maybe they will spring for better internet.

Explain to them that it will make studying for school a lot easier and faster and more comprehensive.
Plus, "all the other kids have it", is alwasy a good excuse too.
