Good question. I could never understand how an egg-laying bunny got associated with the execution of the Lord.

Eggs and bunnies at Easter are based on Pagan traditions. The date for Easter is in fact the same date that an older Pagan festival had, and Easter was given this date when Christianity moved into Europe. The original date for Easter has been lost, although the core things that Easter represents are the same as always.

Eggs and rabbits are symbols of spring and new life, which is what the older Pagan festival (called Ostaria) represented. When Ostaria was Christianised to become Easter, the old symbols weren't thrown out. So that is why there is an easter bunny handing out eggs.

I hope u don't mean that why do we use bunny eggs as opposed to chicken eggs!? The eggs we us at Easter are regular chicken eggs..it's just the bunny who supposedly brings them. Rabbits don't lay eggs.

Just another way ur question could b taken. :-)

The egg symbolizes new life, which is what Easter is all about. The chicken just means dinner.

Because chickens not lay chocolate covered eggs like rabbits do.
But, rabbits are more a sign of fertility. Easter a time of new beginnings and new life. So, Rapid Rabbit gets the job. ;-)

Eggs symbolize rebirth. Easter is all about the rebirth of our Lord Jesus. Go ahead and eat all the chicken you like, that's just my perspective.

Now come on, there'd be something a bit sick about a chicken actually taking her eggs around to be eaten. It would be like giving her unborn children away.
