The ovum is only viable for fertalization for 24-36 hours, once that time has lapsed she can not longer get pregnant during that cycle, UNLESS she's one of those quirky women who ovulate twice in one cycle a few days apart. its uncommon, but it happens to anyone, and esepcially if it runs in some families, and it can be passed through genetics.

Ovulation releases an egg, or ovum, into the fallopian tube, where it waits for 36 hours tops to be fertalized before its life-span is over. This series of events must happen, and sperm must be present in order for a woman to get pregnant.

Sperm lives in the reproductive system of a woman for up to about 5 days, usually less, but some times more. So sex close before ovulation can result in the ovum being fertalized.

A woman must ovulate to become pregnant. You must remember though that a healthy sperm can live for 72 hours, so if the sperm is present the day before and the day after ovulation, conception can happen.

A woman can become pregnant anytime during her cycle, which is why women who want to prevent pregnancy should use protection every single time they have sex, even if it is outside of their most fertile days.

Plus, ovulation times vary, you can't just count the days. Plus, sperm can live for several days inside a woman after intercourse. Hope this helps!

There have been studies done that a woman can ovulate more than once a month. There is never a safe time to have unprotected sex, to avoid pregnancy.

Yes you can become pregnant as the egg makes it's way through your body. In a tubal pregnacy the egg is fertilized in the fallopian tubes, versus the uterus where it should be. I wouldn't risk it if you don't want to be pregnant for sure.

ovulation is important because it releases the egg for fertilization, but you can become pregnant at any time, sperm can survive in the female body for days.
