why do we waste our time and money feeding, educating, and marrying convicted murderers? If they were found guilty (without any doubts) or even confessed, why dont we just put them to death right away? i believe in an eye for an eye. if someone is convicted of rape, cut it off!! and so on.... do you agree??

While often "additional" evidence can be found later on to proof someone's innocence, like DNA evidence, I agree with you that immediate punishment for the convicted would be a better deterent to crime than a long life of no social responsiblity in prison does.

A few years back at the University of Illinois, they had a group against the death penalty speaking on the square. After listening for quite a while, people started asking the question, what if they(the criminal) had done something to your kid? Every one was saying that would not matter. I spoke up and explained they were making their point wrong because these college students didn't have kids. They have a mother. How would they react if their mother was anally raped and then killed by a convicted felon? You should have seen the reaction. It was priceless. i thought they were going to kick my @ss!

I think if we give up on rehibilitation we've given up on the justace system. it has been said that when you want to find out about a society you look to their prisons, their laws, and the whole of their justice system. What does it say in our society if we don't believe people can change?
and the Eye for an Eye sounds good, but after a while you have a society of people with only one eye. (so to speak).
I think some people can change. I do however think that sociopaths need to be diagnosed and locked away forever.

A conviction does not guarantee guilt. There are countless incidents of innocent people, freed after years of incarceration, due to DNA, new evidence, etc. Check out Innocence Projects. The legal system contains criminals in police dept., prosecutor's offices & labs. If you found yourself imprisoned wrongfully, you wouldn't be so quick to harshly judge.

Isn't there a section of the Bible between the old testament & revelations?

Generally I am against killing. I would like to see the prison system redesigned, so there is less free time and prisoners are expected to work for anything beyond the basic necessities: food, clothing, shelter.

I have thought about the issue, like what if someone did something horrible to my daughter, wife, brother, parents...I decided I would rather have them rot than be killed. Although, if they didn't go to jail, I would likely try to find ways to make their lives miserable.

FYI--Its cheaper to keep them alive in prison then it is to give them the death penalty

Might want to check your facts before you go off on an uneducated tangent..

I do not agree with you. Like my favorite human being said the other day, "Murder is murder". Very often my gut reaction to a story is that that person deserves to die, but not that they should die and definitely not by the hand of another.

No, I don't. I believe that the death penalty should be abolished permanently.
