Good question, and one that is commonly misunderstood.
Keeping in mind that every woman is different, we will use your 28-day cycle as an example. First, on the day you get your period you count 28 days (including that day) to find when you expect your next period.
So if your period starts 12/01/06, then you expect your next period to start 12/28/06.
Now, to find your expected ovulation time, you count backwards from your next expected period. So counting back 14 days from 12/28/06, you get 12/14/06.
But ovulation is NOT an exact science. It's a range. So in this example, your most likely fertile days are from 12/12 - 12/16.

on average its day 14.
But not every woman with a 28 day cycle ovulates on day 14.
The ovum is only viable for 24-36 hours, so you're peak time to concieve is only one day. Although sperm lives in the womans reproductive tract for on average, about 2-4 days, so having sex on day 13 AND 14, and even early on the 15th day, is the most effective.

Depending on the women any where between day 9 and day 16. Even with regular cycles you don't always ovoluate on day 14. You best chance would be the tests, or to chart your muscs. when it is like egg whites you are most likely ovoulating. Also, many women don't ovoulate every month. So don't be discuraged if it doesn't happen right away!! :)

I'd say anywhere from day 12- day 15. Watch your body for symptoms, especially that clear, stringy mucous that comes out of your vagina.
