not married but while in a serious relationship i became associated with a man who was also in a serious relationship...
never got together or anything like that but we talked A LOT...i consider him a close friend even though we have never met in person
my bf wasnt fond of the idea of me being friends with a man but i grew tired of him trying to control who i could and could not associate with...

I understand this question is directed to women but I thought I'll weigh-in on this. I am a married man and I do have a few married lady friends online that I chat with once in a while. We also do email each other on various things - some personal and some not-so-personal.
The point is, you are the judge for what is right or wrong for you. It also about how comfortable you are about sharing your own issues with the other person. Like in any relationship, it is always important to build a little bit of trust and understanding of the other person before we get into personal conversations.

No, even if it is online, it's still an affair. Personally, I think marriage issues are an intimate thing between husband an wife that shouldn't be shared.

I think married women who would do this are looking for something that's missing from their marriage.
