She just called me and said they just hire someone and the interview is cancelled. She said if you have any questions call me. What should I ask her? Do they have any opens to let me know? I wanted to be an assistant for a publisher.

Just call and thank her for letting you know and let her know you are interested if anything else opens up.

If she already gave you the go ahead to call her if you had questions and you have some, then do it.
If you are still interested in the position, you can ask her how long they keep applications on file, as you still want to be considered in case the person hired doesn't work out. I've done that before, and got hired a few months later.
You also can ask her about any other openings also.

Just call her and indicate that you would be interested if there should be another opening in the near future. At least it shows you're still interested in the company.
fyi...the job I'm currently in - I started here 2 1/2 weeks go. I was offered the job at my interview so I'm sure this same scenario happened to a few people as they had others lined up.

I think it is unreasonable that they cancelled the interview with you and chose to make a decision on a candidate before interviewing all of the qualified candidates.
Chances are, you wouldn't have been happy there. They have shown that they jump to conclusions without having all the facts....this is not a good professional practise.
When one "window" closes....a "door" will usually open some place else....have no worries....
