FEC Settles With Three 527 Groups
The Federal Election Commission today announced that it has reached settlements with three 527 groups it had accused of violating campaign finance laws during the 2004 presidential election. Of the three groups — The League of Conservation Voters 527 and 527II, MoveOn.org Voter Fund, and Swiftboat Veterans and POWs for Truth — the largest settlement will be paid by Swift Boat Vets, at $299,500. Moveon.org's Voter Fund will pay approximately half that total, at $150,000.

Totally unacceptable! The fines should be enough to really hurt. Screwing around with the elections is a very bad crime and every person involved should be jailed and the groups assetts taken away. I don't care what their political affiliation, any sort of criminal activity involving elections must be dealt with harshly. They've demonstrated that they aren't going to obey the law, shut them down.
