I have done basic course of family counselling from Kolkatta.west Bengal(India). I m M.A. in clinical Psychology.(1978)I m Journalist too.I do social work.But I want to help married ,adolsents especially those passing thru menopause,by doing counselling.So far I have proved best at it,(feedback from those who had it) How should I start(professionally)-Is my question.

IT depends on whether or not you have worked with adults or not. Some states require a special license to be a family counselor. You can always take a crash course and earn your certification in Family counseling. I am currently taking courses on line for my MBA. I'm sure they have options for certifications in counseling. You can definitely do it, but I would look in the state requirements.

It looks like you have the experience and the credentials to become a counselor. I'd recommend also to be active in associations related to family counseling so you can keep up with the newest findings in this area as well as converse with your peers. Then, get an office to have your counseling sessions in. Converse with your peers about what they charge as a "sliding scale" price for those patients with no insurance coverage.

there is a counsel called rehabilitation counsel which issues license to practice as a professional.
but u have to complete ur M.Phil.that is the min criteria.if it is a Ph.D it is good.

It is nice to hear your desire.
start a centre and probably advertise in a small way.if you are good in counselling, people will defenitely come to you by word of mouth advertisements.
