Sure! Most plants will survive when planted into gravel, but some plants (anubias and java fern) need to be tied to driftwood or a rock, because they won't survive if their roots are burried.

Aquatic plants are much like outdoor plants as far as lighting is involved. You will have low light, moderate light, and high light. Some plants will only grow and do well in a tank that has aquarium plant lights that provide simulated sunlight uva/uvb rays. It also helps to have the proper substrate like laterite which is a clay like substance that you can mix in your gravel that will help the roots of your plants grow and be able to absorb food. It also provides iron for the plant. Plants also need c o2 in order to grow fast, you might want to think about purchasing a co2 canister for your tank. Depending on what type of plants you purchased they may or maynot make it in you tank for these reasons. Also keep in mind that guppys are omnivours and will nibble on your plants.

Can we know what plants you have got? Guppies love plants for may ways. Try to search info on net regarding the plant. Plants like cocomba can survive without gravel. Otherwise you can try putting pots.

It would help if we knew the types of plants you have.

Some plants require special lights and other things to keep them healthy.

Most plants do well in gravel but some do better in sand.

I would research each individual plant and see what the requirements are.
