Great responses so far. All lean towards the contention that racism no longer exists in America. Man I wish that were true...but it's not. In terms of experience he has at least as much experience as Bush..of course that's a bad example because Bush has done a horrid job as President. Schwarzenegger had ZERO experience in politics..he barely even votes but immediately ascended to Gov. In politics, experience is overrated.

Well, I don't think that he will win, but it has nothing to do with his skin color. I would never not vote for anyone because of their skin color. It is evident that others share my viewpoint, because there are more and more in government every day.

It rather has to do with his experience. He has to have real issues and real stands on issues.

your question's premise is off base: that could represent BLACK racism adverse to Whites. for sure, the trend is popping out to be on a daily basis. And no human being with understanding and documents of the civil rights moves steps as a lot because the plate with the truth. Obama will be soundly defeated in November; regrettably for the rustic, yet another GOP 4 365 days time period. Oh properly, we informed them so and they would not listen.

The fact that Obama has so much support with so little experience two years in advance of an election strongly undermines your claim that this is "a country where racism still runs quite rampant."

I don't think Senator Obama's race is the issue with him running for the Oval Office. I think he's free to run in 2008, if he chooses to.
The problems that he has are that I don't think the American people know where he stands on the big issues, and also that he has not been in the senate for very long (he doesn't have enough experience).

Can Hillary win in a country where sexism is still quite rampant?
Not that I would consider either of them for the presidency.
If Mr. Obama does get to run in the presidential race and loses- will his loss immediately be attributed to the color of his skin?

It won't be because of racism (although that is where the blame will be) He lacks experience and he is a democrat with no issues.
Maybe down the road, but it is too early for Obama at this time.

Can Americans be allowed to vote for the candidate of their choice without being called racist?

Should Americans elect someone for President who is candidating on the race card?

I supported Allan Keyes. I do not support Obama.

Not that he would or would not to a good job as president, but due to racism, he will not get past the Iowa or New Hampsire primaries.

These two primaries are located in rural agricultural states with very small minority populations that are heavy with racism.

We will see when they have the Democratic primaries. That is where the racism will play out.
