Well, the ps3 is just a upgrade of the ps2, the ps3 has new blue ray though, links below compare them both, ps3 will be vary hard to get a hold of, and is about 600.00, ps2, about 100.00-150.00

PS3 has a built in hard Drive, better graphics(though how much is really your taste) backward compatible to PS2 games(you can play PS2 games on them) has Blue-Ray DVD technology and a wireless controller, right now will cost you about 600 dollars. It's a first Generation system, meaning there's a lot of new technology, which means it's still in a "buggy" phase and has problems

PS2 you require memory Cards to save games, is backward Compatible to PS1 games , plays most DVDs, but not Blue Ray, and has a corded controller. You can get one from a store for 100-200 dollars, less if you buy used. It's reached the end of it's run, the "bugs" have been run out of it, and therefore will be a lot dependable.

My opinion? Unless you HAVE to have the next generation system, save yourself 400 bucks, buy a PS2 system, and wait at least a year for the price to come down on the PS3, knowing you'l lbe able to play PS2 games on it, and have some fun with a great system.

PS2- about $130 or so.

PS3- Two models available. $500- $600

PS3 is better technologically speaking since it just came out. However, it cannot match the massive library that the PS2 has. I'd buy a PS2 now, and wait for the price to go down a bit on the PS3. You won't suffer from a lack of great games for your Playstation 2, and can find many great titles for $20 or less.

well, the ps3 can play any ps2 game, so obviously it's better.. but the ps2 is a lot cheaper, so if money is an issue, you might as well get the ps2..

the ps3 is around 600 bucks.. the ps2 you can get for probably around 100..
